The Olivet Discourse Decoded - Matthew 24 book by David Nikao WilcoxsonMatthew records that Messiah pointed to “this generation” ten times. In the final time, Messiah said, “Verily I say unto you, this generation shall not pass, till all these things be fulfilled.” Matthew 24:34

The nine previous mentions are pointing to the Jews who opposed Messiah. Are we to believe that the tenth time that He described “this generation,” that He is pointing to the end times? No!

The context of Messiah’s Olivet Discourse is the desolation of the temple that He was just in when He rebuked the Jews and said, “Verily I say unto you, all these things shall come upon this generation.”

All of the things that Messiah described from Matthew 23:36 to Matthew 24:33 were fulfilled by 70 AD when the Romans desolated Jerusalem, the temple, and the Jewish nation. The enemy has deceived people about the symbolism of the sun, moon, and stars being darkened; Messiah coming in power and glory; and the elect being gathered. But the Bible gives the proper definitions for the symbols.

We need to take Messiah at His Word and look at how the things that He described were about the Jewish nation, for their punishment of continuing their rebellion against the Father, for delivering Messiah up to be killed, and for persecuting His disciples.

The Olivet Discourse is directed related to the 70th Week of Daniel 9, which says that the city and temple will be desolated because of the abominations of the Jews.

If you’re seeking for truth, and not to defend a belief, this book will prove out the fulfillment of Messiah’s Olivet Discourse. It will help you see that it’s not about the end times so that you’re not misled about the fulfillment of Revelation, as we await Messiah’s promised return.

  1. Hello Brother David –
I have all three of the Decoded books and I continue to read, study and watch the Youtube videos. I am learning so much. Bless you brother for all the hard work you have put into these. Are you familiar with a brother named Kendall Lankford and his teachings on the Olivet Discourse? If not, I pray that you guys can connect because you both teach a lot of the same things. Kendall has a number of podcasts online. One of my favorites is “Thirteen Reasons Why The Great Tribulation Already Happened”.

    • Hello Brother Randall, thank you for your comment! I appreciate your zeal in studying Bible prophecy!

I had not heard of Kendall Lankford, but found the teaching you referred to. That’s great that he teaches the historical fulfillment of the Olivet Discourse.

Does he teach the historicist narrative of the fulfillment of the prophecies in Revelation? Or is he a preterist who believes that they were fulfilled in the first century?

Keep learning and growing in The Way of Messiah!

  2. Thank you so much for all the work you do and the free resources you make available. I grew up under premil dispensation so unlearning all of it has been a challenge. I never even knew of the other 2 eschatology perspectives (besides future) until several months ago. I still have so much to learn. I want to be able to explain to my (very) premil family why I believe differently now however still have more questions than answers. One question is I don’t fully understand what the difference is between a PARTIAL preterist (Jeff Durban, Gary Demar, Doug Wilson) & a historicist? Thanks again for all your work. I especially love the podcasts & 1-page summaries. God bless

    • Thank you for your comment Blair! Yeah, it’s challenging to learn a new explanation and unlearn what we’ve been taught. A preterist believes that the 70th week of Daniel 9, the Olivet Discourse and most of the prophecies in Revelation were fulfilled in the first century.

A historicist believes that the 70th week of Daniel 9 and the Olivet Discourse were fulfilled in the first century, and that the prophecies in Revelation have been in the process of being fulfilled since the first century. So people call that a partial-preterist.

I’m glad that the podcasts & 1-page summaries help!
Keep learning and growing in The Way of Messiah!
