Dr. John Barnett of Discover the Book Ministries says that Matthew 24:15 is a complicated verse.
It’s not complicated at all, because Luke gave us the definition! Matthew wrote to a Jewish audience who understood the previous occurrence of the abomination of desolation in Daniel 8, when Antiochus Epiphanes surrounded the temple in Jerusalem to take it captive.
But Luke wrote to a gentile audience who may not understand that reference, so he simply gave the definition in Luke 21:20-21: And when ye shall see Jerusalem compassed with armies, then know that the desolation thereof is nigh. Then let them which are in Judaea flee to the mountains; and let them which are in the midst of it depart out; and let not them that are in the countries enter thereinto.
This was fulfilled in 66 AD, when Cestius and his army infiltrated the outer walls of Jerusalem and surrounded the temple area to take it captive. Then they left for no explained reason, which gave the saints the opportunity to flee to the mountains for protection from the coming Jewish-Roman War of 66-70 AD.

Dr. John Barnett of Discover the Book Ministries says that the antichrist will stand in the temple.
He points to John describing a temple in Revelation 11 and Paul describing a temple in 2 Thessalonians 2.
The temple in Revelation 11 is not a physical temple. It was fulfilled when Catholic monk Martin Luther used the Scripture, the rule, to measure what the Popes said against the Word. What he found is that the Roman Catholic Church is not part of the true temple, the church of Messiah, but that it’s an apostate church that is delegated to the outer court of the temple. In 2 Thessalonians 2, Paul proclaims that the son of perdition sits among the temple of Messiah, His church. This is fulfilled with the Popes of Rome who proclaim to lead Messiah’s church, but they teach a false gospel of works through the sacraments and that Mary is the intercessor to the Father, which is antichrist. Dr. John Barnett of Discover the Book Ministries says that the people of the prince in Daniel 9:26 is the Roman army of Titus.
This is wrong, as Daniel told us who the people are in Daniel 9:24, Seventy weeks are determined upon thy people and upon thy holy city. Thy people are the Jews.
The Jews caused the desolation of Jerusalem, as it was their punishment for continuing in rebellion against the Heavenly Father and for delivering His Son up to be killed.

He declares that this is where 7-year tribulation from.
It’s the verse that false prophecy fulfillment teachers base the concept of a 7-year tribulation upon, but it is heresy as the verse is about Messiah coming to confirm the covenant that was just mentioned in Daniel 9:4, the everlasting covenant of peace which needed to be confirmed with the blood of the Spotless Lamb to atone for our sins, which ended the need for temple animal sacrifices.

Dr. John Barnett of Discover the Book Ministries teaches a false, futuristic fulfillment of the 70th week of Daniel 9, the Olivet Discourse and the prophecies in Revelation.
The 70th week of Daniel 9 is about Messiah’s ministry and His blood sacrifice as the Spotless Lamb to atone for our sins. It has nothing to do with the antichrist or the end times.
The Olivet Discourse foretold the events that would lead to the desolation of Jerusalem, the second temple and the Jewish nation; as punishment for the Jewish leaders continuing in rebellion against the Heavenly Father and for delivering His Son up to be killed. It has nothing to do with the antichrist or the end times.
Most of the prophecies in Revelation have been fulfilled in exacting detail during the last 1,900 years. It describes the historical narrative of the Satan-empowered leaders of the Roman beast kingdom (pagan Emperors > antichrist beast Popes > false prophet Jesuit Superior Generals) fighting against Messiah and His saints.
The explanations of Dr. John Barnett of Discover the Book Ministries serve to deflect blame away from the enemy in Rome, and to mislead the end-times saints so that they’re not prepared for how the end-times will play out, and don’t know the context of Messiah’s return.
